Lesson Plan in English for Grade 5

        I.            Objectives
The pupils should be able to:
1.       Read and take note of the Consonant sound –ch
2.       Familiarize themselves with words having the different sounds of –ch
3.       Give the meaning of the words with different –ch sounds
4.       Create sentences using the words with different –ch sounds
      II.            Subject Matter
Title: Consonant blend –ch with different pronunciations
References:  Worktext in Integrated Language and Reading (Side by Side) pp. 130-131
Instructional Aids: visual aids, manila paper, marker/pentel pen, book
    III.            Procedure
A.      Preparation
1.       Ask the students on how to pronounce the –ch sound
B.      Motivation: Create a discussion about the “Church” and other activities that the students are into during Sunday’s.

C.      Presentation
1.       Give the meaning of the words and let the pupils take note on each of the following words with different –ch sounds.
2.       Discuss how these words are divided as –ch sounded as /tsh/,  -ch sounded as /k/, -ch sounded as /sh/.
3.       Divide the students into three groups. The teacher will give words which have the different sounds of –ch. The first group should clap once if the word has –ch sounded as /tsh/, the second group will clap twice if the word has –ch sounded as /k/ and the last group will clap thrice if the word has –ch sounded as /sh/.

D.      Enrichment
1.       Ask them to give other words having the different –ch sounds. Let the students choose a word from the words you had already introduced to them. Then instruct them to use it in a sentence.
